Replacement SNAP Benefits Approved For 18 Parishes Following Hurricane Ida

BATON ROUGE, LA - September 5, 2021 - Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in 18 Louisiana parishes impacted by Hurricane Ida will receive automatic 55% replacement benefits due to power outages affecting at least half of their residents, following a waiver approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

Hours of operation: Landfill, Permits

AMITE—To help residents dispose of their household garbage in the wake of Hurricane Ida, the Tangipahoa Parish Landfill will be open additional hours.

Starting on Monday, Sept. 6, hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday thru Friday; 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

Operation Blue Roof

HAMMOND—Tangipahoa residents who have suffered roof damage from Hurricane Ida can now sign up for Operation Blue Roof, Parish President Robby Miller said.

A priority mission managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Operation Blue Roof provides homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until permanent repairs can be made.
